Samsung I7500 preview: First look

Shocking Phone - i had it for just over a week and had to charge the battery 3 times a day. No file share via bluetooth, all applications in the market seem to be USA based so unless you really want share prices in the USA i would not bother. Good screen and great size but to make the battery last longer i had to turn the brightness down to 0%, turn the ringer off, turn the keypad feedback off in fact anything that made the phone good i had to turn off to save the battery. No function to allow the alarm to come on if the phone is turned off, such a shame as the actual speed of the phone is great but the battery cannot power the phone for long enough and as for no bluetooth sharing that is unforgiveable on a top of the range handset

> In reply to sonisoe @ 2009-06-17 13:55 from uE5$"not the best looking phone... hopefully, as this is the non-United States version, it comes with the usual standard features such as phone-as-modem, send+receive vcard, etc. these features are missing even in the latest android device, htc magic... guess its more of the OS capability rather than the hardware ? there's no point of being a great OS if the competition has upped their ante... even the iphone now has phone-as-modem capability for the non-US version..."
Yep, Android 1.5 is rather limited; only 480x320 resolution and only 65k colors to name a few limitations.

> In reply to hyoo82 @ 2009-06-15 20:33 from xsM5the battery power seems awesome but wondering if its actually gonna be enough considering its got camera flash... i've had twice bad experence with samsung mobiles... battery sucks, and the latest device i550 that i just ditched even had a poor track-ball... i want to buy this phone but i'll wait and see the review especially i learnt from sites and forums, the htc magic doesn't support phone-as-modem (i'm always on the go and phone screen size can't beat laptop's , so i use my current phone as modem to check and download email attachments and review them), it doesn't support send+receive vcard, or even the trivial yet very useful "group contact".... hopefully its not the OS limitation...

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2009-06-16 05:11 from m7G%kinda agree with your comment... despite video isnt the most frequently used feature it's becoming an expected quality standard feature.... while i agree android is one of the best OS (palm's webOS and the iphone), but so far its not reached its full potential and in fact its starting to lag behind these 2 rivals, especially behind the iphone as android looks a "closer" competitor to apple, while palm clearly tries to claim the business/information & task management type of device position....

android still has sucky video support :(
the chipset supports MPEG-4, H.264, H.263, Windows Media and Real Video
http://pdfserv.datasheetpro.ne..._chipset.pdf
so why cant they fix it to play quicktime trailers at 480p?
its kinda stupid to buy a expensive smartphone and you cant even play any videos off apple trailer site or other sites that has 480p video files, many .mov files are 480p
i think the trailers from apple at 480p uses baseline profile

Wow, totally does not look like other touch-screen phones I've seen, amazing...
Wake me up when a phone with android has keyboard and is affordable on non-contract
