Got my 72 about a week back at Singapore...The phone is AWESOME!!! agreed back cover is a bit gibberish but its not really such a bother believe me ....but those who are happy with E71 you guys are not missing anything spectacular... E71 is the numero uno guys and E72 is an upgraded version of the same.
Amazing Features-
great Batter Life
Excellent keypad
User interface is a bit faster than E71
camrea is much much better
audio quality (music and telephony) Great

Only setback a bit loose battery cover ...but please let this not stop anyone from using The Phone !!!

Nokia Forever ..

Friends, Nokia E71 is loosing its market price every week. But I would say it is very unfair. E71 is a much solid built when compared to E72. E72 without any doubt beats E71 in features and capabilities but the huge price difference between 2 handsets is not justified. E72 has a bad built quality. The materials used on E71 are far superior. Compare the plastic part of E71 with E72,the quality used on E71 is more strong feel. Plastic on E72 feels cheap. E72 has been given brushed metal buttons in the middle of the soft key area and this is a welcome move but apart from that E72 lacks lustre.

> In reply to haseious @ 2009-11-21 16:22 from 2FB$About your comment E72 being more metal built, I would say to you hold E71 in one hand and E72 in other. Play with them, I mean click the soft keys and then press the keypad. You will notice that E71 feels much sturdier. If not than my E72 has a faulty construction.

Moreover in just 2 days the battery cover has started shaking and twisting rock n roll.

Moreover the side volume keys feel very delicate and feel like will crack in few days. There is a backlight bleeding from behind the soft keys and volume keys. All in All it feels like a shiny expensive toy which will loose its shine and feel cheap in few days.

If anyone have found otherwise please post your experience with this device. I am wondering if I have been handed over a faulty unit. By the way I am from Indonesia and I bought E72 at USD 480.

For anyone with this handset that has an E-71 as well, how can you compare the sound-quality when using a head-set? I am an E-71 user and I find the quality to be only fair if not sub-par to what I would like. I understand by all means to get a great sound processing handset I should be looking towards the Nseries etc.. however the full QWERTY KB, solid build quality and business functionality of the Eseries is primary to me over this.

ok, everyone's subject to their own opinion about this phone, but i personally don't think the phone looks cheap at all. specifically i don't understand why some people label it as "plasticky" when in fact, it has more metallic components to it compared to the E71 - the brushed metal surface of the soft-keys below the display, the metal rings that surround the d-pad, shortcut keys, the earpiece, the power switch, and the volume toggles are ALL metal, not to mention the chrome frame. don't get me wrong, as no phone is perfect, but for people who find it "cheap" looking, didn't you get to play with a dummy / look at it at a counter / test and hold it before you bought it?
oh and the optical navigation pad is naturally a little wobbly, as it is a key after all, like all the other ones on the phone. it's pretty much common sense, guys - if it's glued solid onto the phone, how on earth are we going to press it?

Finally I bought d phone just today cost USD485 in Jakarta..but I honestly I dont like the handset..its Not well made. The plastick is so cheap, even the D-Pad and softkeys are hard to press made my thumb hurts.. the E71 is much more comfortable to use. But software is okay..camera is awesome, average sound quality

an accelerometer is on board, but as far as i know, it is called "turning control" and is only relevant for silencing calls and snoozing alarms. haven't tried any games yet, so not sure about the utilization of the accelerometer in that department...

oh, and to address the concern about the E72's seemingly more "delicate" construction - it is absolutely bollocks. the E72 is very solidly built and it only feels "delicate" in your hands because it feels classier and much more precious. in other words, that judgment is, for the most part, psychological.

the camera seems to be a HUGE upgrade over its predecessor, the E71. it is lightning fast to activate and take pictures (i dare say that the image quality is on par with most n-series phones, which is unsurpassed by previous E-series phones), and the flash (which can be doubled as a torch) is quite strong as well. overall, a holy-grail miracle-doer which combines the best of the N-series' and E-series' worlds.

oh, and the battery cover seems to be a little ill-fitting, but is overall still quite stable (i.e. doesn't jiggle around).

some useful tips when using the E72:

1. pushing and holding down the "home" short-key reveals the multitasking menu.
2. to lock and unlock keypad - push the left soft-key followed by the right soft-key (as opposed pushing the left soft-key and then the asterisk key like traditional nokia candybars).
3. pushing and holding down the middle volume toggle key (located on the right side of the phone) activates the voice command function. it works extremely well.
4. pushing and holding down the "messaging" soft-key immediately leads you to composing a new email (to, cc, subject, body, etc).
5. pushing and holding down the key on the bottom left hand corner of the keypad (the arrow-shaped key) activates the search function.

*just another reminder to current (and potential new) owners of the fabulous E72: the sensitivity of the optinavi pad can be adjusted.

has anyone noticed a narrow shaft between the bottom of the screen and the top row soft-keys? i have a feeling it's going to be a vacuum for dust entering the screen...

Hi all,

E72 is now available in Bucharest. I bought it yesterday from Vodafone. The price is 379 euro (if you choose to just buy the phone but not subscribe for a vodafone plan). The unpleasant part is that Vodafone only distributes the black version, and as far as I understood this is the only color you can purchase from them.

The package contains of course the charger and hand set (the hand set looks really good), has a 4GB memory card included, a data transfer cable (it is very short though, about 15cm) and a "coat" for the phone which looks very classy.

I don't like that the back side of the phone does not perfectly fit (it moves a little - I saw this after inserting the SIM and I read reviews that say others have the same problem) and the back-side it's made from metal and is a fingerprint nightmare.

I love the optical navi key, it works like a dream and you can opt to vibrate when moving. I like the keyboard and the phone responds really good and fast after pressing a key (I played a little with E52 and hated the keyboard and how the phone responded when pressing a key). The camera takes beautiful pictures.

I had one problem because after inserting the SIM I had a message icon permanently blinking on the screen. If you have the same problem, you must delete the messages on your SIM and the icon goes away.

This is what I got to test this far as I got the phone late last evening.

I would like to read here other users opinions. So if you already have a E72 please share your experience.

Thanks

> In reply to brynn @ 2009-11-20 04:56 from nGxPHey Brynn, did you buy your E72. I am having problems about action keys and navigation Dpad. Since last 2 hours it has been behaving strangely. Sometimes I press the left or right action keys but it takes a while to appear on screen. Navigation Dpad at times become too sensitive and cursor moves too agressively.
Do you face this problem?

> In reply to [deleted post]You call yourself Sheriff??? When, where and what price did you buy your mobile? Which colour is your mobile and is it made in china or Korea? I have been noticing that you have been adding remarks about every person who make his or her post on this site. I doubt you ever own E72 or as a matter of fact maybe you have never even used E71. Now look you smart....Add a genuine post or just keep your.......zipped.
