i just recently updated my firmware from 36.14 to 36.16. does anyone here know where i can find a change log of the update?
sadly, it doesn't fix the blacking out of the screen. very disappointing on nokia's part for not listening to feedback.

Hi there, Ive been reading the comments posted on the Nokia 6600i slide. Found them to be quite useful in making up my mind. I currently have the 6500 slide, which is great. Good camera, excellent slide mechanism, Carl Zeiss lenses. One of few negatives is the speaker is not great. I am due for an upgrade soon & I was thinking of the 6600i, but have now decided against it. The absence of the Carl Zeiss lens, poor slide mechanism & the blacking out when using certain functions have put me off. Thank you guys for your input. Reading the specs is nothing compared to reading you guys experience with the phone. Once again, thank you. Leon

i just bought 6600i last week with RM800(ap), so far the spec satisfied me, and i really like its stylish design. I found a bit frustrated with the 10secs black out mode and it cant be adjust.

I bought the Nokia 6600i slide; its pretty simple and easy to use and pretty good lookwise too...small and has most of the features one would need - price wise I think its a bit on the higher side, but all similar spec phones come in this range...I would recommend it..

Hi the 6500 slide is 3.15 MP, 2048x1536 pixels, Carl Zeiss. Also on this model 6600i slide, the Carl Zeiss has been removed and they upgraded the camera to 5 MP. The camera quality is poorer then the old version 6500.
I would like to see more sample pictures take from the 6600i slide model.

> In reply to Rydon @ 2009-09-18 11:37 from nvxuHello Rydon, if you are looking for Carl Zeiss Optics you might want to check out the N Series. All S40 OS Nokia phones (at least for now i think) do not have this feature. But they are still nice if you just don't move the phone too much when taking photos. It just doesn't have the "Auto-focus" that the Sony CZ Optics has. :-)

Got this phone over a month ago and so far I am satisfied. The overall look is very sophisticated. I chose the black color as I am a young professional, and I feel like it matches the young business lady look. Its design is very nice, the matte finish doesn't get finger prints like the earlier version (6600 slide - blue). Feels heavy at first, especially if you were carrying a lighter phone previously, but once you get used to it, psychologically it feels lighter. So far the battery life is good. It usually lasts for 3 days with regular usage. For features very typical, I hope I could get a headphones converter so I can use the usual headsets out there in the market. The USB connectivity is also good, tends to be slow a bit when memory is low (manageable). The camera isn't so bad too, just need to be still when taking photos, turn down the megapixel to about 3MP and it will give you good results. I love the fact that I can take photos in low lighting now. If you are used to the optics used for N95 though you might be a bit disappointed. Though since I last used my Nokia Express Phone that has the same OS (S40), it has improved a lot and does serve my needs for impromptu pictorials. Lastly, speakers aren't as nice as the Express Music phones but they don't break at mid to high volume. To sum this up I'd give it an 8/10 - for performance, design and features.
